In 2012 Gonzo Unit were invited to take up residence in Twenty-Eight Boys & Girls Barbers in Nottingham. During this period we invited artists to make new art in collaboration with us. The programme gave artists the opportunity to be experimental and test out new ideas in response to the unique space.
The programme included our Student Solos series, where we worked with three BA Hons Fine Art students based at Nottingham Trent University to produce a series of one week solo exhibitions. Under Gonzo Unit’s support, each artist undertook a mini-residency in the exhibition space which enabled them to develop work in situ, whilst considering the placement and curation of artwork and audience engagement in the particular exhibition site.
