“The sharp edge of a razor is difficult to pass over; thus the wise say the path to Salvation is hard.” taken from a verse in the Katha-Upanishad (“Death as Teacher”) – 1.3.14.

An empty room. Four hairdressing chairs await. A pair of clippers, the penetrating buzz. A record spins. Cutting. Splicing. Remixing. An ear is imprinted onto a mirror. The stack of glossy magazines build. A lazer beams from a far. The edge of the razor, revealed.

Drawing upon connections between spirituality, philosophy – personal and political, culture, music and hair, Raven responds directly to space of Twenty-Eight girls and boy’s barbers in a one off performance for Gonzo Unit, the culminating residue forming a four-week installation.
